CREW LEVEL/EMPLOYEE AWARDS/RECOGNITION

     It is recommended that work crews and individual employees be recognized for excellent safety practices on a frequent basis, such as monthly or completion of a segment of work.

APPROACHES

 Examples of successful approaches used for awards at this level include:

(1)              Gifts for safety are handed out by the supervisor to each crewmember at the end of the month when the entire crew has gone without a lost-time accident. Baseball-style caps with appropriate logo/slogans are also sometimes used.

(2)       When a major, hazardous project has been completed with an excellent safety record, key individuals, are sometimes singled out and presented  with windbreakers or jackets bearing appropriate logo/slogans.
